Independence Day Celebrated in Henry with Pig Catch and Jump
A large crowd enjoyed the 4th of July in Henry with parades, a pig catching contest near the McManus building, a 26 foot high dive by Prof Harry Murray, and a baseball game between Henry and Lacon ending in a scoreless draw. Magnolia band, dancing, boat races on Mud Lake, and a merry-go-round capped the festive day.

Knights of Pythias Initiate Four at Henry Lodge
Henry Lodge No 489 of the Knights of Pythias held an initiation Monday evening with four candidates. The Sampson lodge of Chillicothe conducted the initiations and a Camp House banquet followed for about fifty attendees from Chillicothe Metamora Hennepin Lacona and Varna. Several out of town guests joined, and the gathering included a lengthy supper, music, and a smoker before all returned home. The lodge plans two more Knight candidates and five new applications.

Painted the Stacks by Henry Electric Light Company
J W Baker of Peoria painted the two smoke stacks last Saturday as he tours the valley between St Louis and Chicago. He travels by wagon this year, has long specialized in stack painting, and demonstrated a novel rope method using a newspaper as a guiding contraption to pull up the painter’s block and tackle. Inquest Held Over Patrick Brady at Wenona
Coroner W J Thomas held an inquest on July 6 at Wenona into the death of Patrick Brady found behind the zinc works. A jury including Dennis Hartley and Ashley Judd heard that Brady drank, with nalysis suggesting alcohol may have caused death. Death of Ivan B. Wright at 27 in this city
