The School House Burns In Our Village Fire
Last Friday evening about 6 o clock a fire destroyed the village school house. The crowd saved nearby buildings including Sam Clemens blacksmith shop and his dwelling from the spreading blaze. Most books and the teacher Mr Halligan’s material burned along with a large library and charts. The cause is unclear though many suspect a faulty flue or garret fire.
