Wise Saying on Knowledge and Use of Skill
A concise adage notes it is wiser to apply usable knowledge well than to possess extensive knowledge that yields no practical value. It emphasizes practical utility over sheer volume of learning and endorses focused mastery.

Suspected evasion of debts during hard times at merchants
From talks with merchants and others we have a suspicion that a few men are using the cry of hard times to get out of paying their just debts. With money in their pocket or bank they stave the merchants off with the plea that cash is so scarce they just can't get hold of enough to pay their current bills. Men of this type make times all the harder.
