Music featured instrumental pieces by Mrs. Logan Barrett and vocal solos by several members. Lunch followed, a first for the men, and the gathering ended with optimism for a successful year under worthy matron Mrs. Theodore Kaiser. New officers' names were announced.

Quiet wedding ties Mattison and Quinn at Henry
The quiet wedding of Eva May Mattison to Albert F. Quinn took place Wednesday January 8 1919 at 5 pm in Henry with Rev M B Van Leer officiating. The couple left for a western honeymoon after a two course supper. Mattison a niece of the couple resides in Henry and is active in the Kantalkenui club and Rebekah lodge. The groom is a noted local farmer who built a modern home three miles west of Henry. The Republican joins in best wishes for the newlyweds.

Robert Emmet Disosway, second son of E. T. Disosway, died January 1, 1919 in Los Angeles after four months of blood poisoning from a poison fish at the fish market. His right arm was amputated but infection spread, cremation followed in Los Angeles, remains shipped home for burial. He was 60 last April and survived by siblings in New York, Oakland, Chatsworth, and Meg Klenzendorf of Oakland. Funeral services to be held at the cemetery with a short service by Rev. Van Ar.
