A community Red Cross card party and lunch fundraiser is slated for Tuesday March 5 in Washington DC. Admission remains 25 cents, with lunch included, featuring a new and newsy program segment about notable people.
The M E Sunday school reports progress with 104 in attendance last Sunday and 3.41 collected while numerous youngsters and teachers recited verses and read chapters. A half million dollar Methodist hospital drive is planned in Henry area with spokespeople from Peoria and Rock Island districts, aiming to aid retired ministers and wounded soldiers.
Myrel Anderson visits Edgar relatives and changes around Henry include store redecorations at Hutchins Downey, farm moves to Ada Minnesota and surrounding farmer relocations. Washington's birthday program at the M E church features a colonial era tableau and performances by local youth.
Marshall County balance left for War Welfare, total 24.90, leaving a remaining balance of 126.45. County Chairman H. W. Adams, Treasurer Walter Duke, Secretary Alden Hunter.
Kantalkenuf Klub members met at Miss Nellie Coan's home with Miss Velma Rowe as guests. The group, facing windy conditions from Henry, enjoyed a social hour, a brief business meeting, a festive dining display, and a piano solo by Miss Coan before adjournment. Mrs. Jane Hall observed the first robins signaling spring.
On Saturday February 23 Mr and Mrs Peter Neuhalsen of Saratoga were surprised by family and friends for their twenty sixth wedding anniversary. The group enjoyed progressive cards and a late dainty lunch before departing. William Smith, the LaPrairie veterinarian, was in town.

The Henry opera house presents Robert Sherman’s new comedy A Good for Nothing Husband on Thursday March 7. The play offers a strong motif clean moral humor and lively entertainment with an adequate stage setting to guarantee a pleasant evening for theatergoers amid changing film trends.
Presbyterian Church holds Sunday school as usual and morning and evening services on March 3. Mr. Gibbons will preach at both services as a candidate. The public is invited to attend and hear Mr. Gibbons.
St Josephs Church announces winter mass times with first mass at 8 a m on Sunday and a 10 a m service. Weekday masses remain at 7 30 a m. Rev M J Brennan of St Marys and Rev Father Andrew Schauer of Daator are named in the notice.
Rev. Baunders, rector, says Sunday’s service at St. John’s Episcopal Church begins at 7 o’clock. Belle Doyle plans to return from Matamora for a weekend visit with her mother, Mrs. M. C. Doyle.
