At eight on Wednesday December 23 at the Bacon home in Putnam the couple exchanged the ring in a ceremony conducted by Rev L R Thomas of the Christian church. Miss Bacon, a Henry high school graduate and teacher, will supervise eighth grade and part of high school work in Putnam. Mr Reed, eldest son of the late Charles Reed, is set to take over a Reed farm west of Putnam. The couple will begin housekeeping on a Reed farm after a southern trip.

Mrs. Etta Cross Dies After Illness In Putnam Home
Mrs. Etta Cross a longtime resident with ties to Princeton and Putnam died after illness. She married Wesley Cross in 1911 near Princeton and lived in a cottage by Walnut Grove before relocating for her daughters Jessie and Lillian Hope to attend school. Funeral services were held December 26 at the Christian church led by Rev. L R Thomas, with casket bearers from the IOC. The family and community mourn her loss and extend sympathy to the bereaved husband and children.

The Presbyterian Church reports a well attended Christmas cantata Down the Chimney With Santa Claus on Christmas eve. Shooting at Putnam Involves Injured Buyer at Cheese Factory
Reports say M M Henkins of Putnam bought the cheese factory building at auction and was tearing it down when Adam Haun, a resident on property owned by Matthew Drake, ordered him to stop. Haun shot Henkins through the right leg and hand as he fled on a pony. If Henkins survives, he faces life-long maiming. Details are unavailable.

Christmas rites at St. Joseph's Catholic church featured elaborate altars candles carna tions and choirs at 6 7 30 and 10 masses. Mrs Wire Monahan led organ music while children and senior choirs performed O Come All Ye Faithful and Hark What Means Those Holy Voices. Despite severe weather a large congregation attended and the pastor delivered sermons on Christ's humility poverty and love, with benediction closing the 10 o'clock mass.
