C G Lampman, promoter of the Henry Kewanee interurban, is arranging contracts for right of way toward Kewanee. He says build depends on local support and reasonable prices. An engineer’s estimates are pending, and possible use of the old roadbed through Magnolia area would widen routes via Toluca Wenona and Rutland toward Cambridge Geneseo and Rock Island, creating a major interurban system.

Demorest Medal Contest at M B E Church

The Silver Medal contest by the Woman's Christian Temperance Union at the M B E church on December 11 drew a large audience. Milford Marshall of Sparland won the medal. Maynard Bell, Arthur Newell, Frank Huffstetter, Wesley Deel, Virgil Robinson, Milford Marshall and others performed with a male quartet and soloists. A notable plea to vote against liquor appeared in the program, urging local option.

Woman's Club Meets at Mrs Ho Wy Adams Home

The Woman's club held its Monday gathering at Mrs Ho Wy Adams home on a cold December afternoon. Mrs Adams acted as secretary pro tem as Miss Evans arrived with a telegram urging support for the Hobson resolution, which the group unanimously backed. The program featured philanthropy and an essay by Mrs Clark, and plans were discussed for the January club entertainment.

Sabbath school begins at 9 45 a m with M L Coan as superintendent.
