Lantas proposes a large 30 to 40 foot public Christmas tree in Central Park lit nightly for a week before Christmas. A committee would distribute gifts to the needy on Christmas Eve and privately the next day, with clothing, fuel or food and toys provided from the tree as a community gesture.

On Thanksgiving morning at seven o clock the sacred obligation was administered and the words spoken which united in marriage two of our highly respected young people. Peter Wunder and Dora Hank were married Thursday November 26 at St. Marys church with Fr. Gensler officiating. The couple were attended by John Wunder and Eva Smith. A wedding breakfast followed at the bride’s uncle and aunt George Hank. They plan a short wedding trip to Franklin Grove and will reside in the Happy Ryan residence near the depot while starting housekeeping for their future.
The community praises the up-to-date jewelry store of F Halifarth for its holiday display. Rich goods attract buyers and a $50 diamond ring or a sold watch prize is offered with ticketed gifts on Thursday, Dec 31 at 3 PM. Tickets available with collar purchases before the drawing.

Mr and Mrs Emerson Trim of Chicago celebrated the 66th birthday of T R Trim with relatives at the home of Mr and Mrs 8S Clift on Market Street. A party of 12 attended the luncheon at 1 pm on Monday November 30 with 55 birthday cards received. The hostess shared in the dinner and guests enjoyed a varied menu and music from Mrs Barrett. The Trim couple left by the evening train for Chicago, pleased with the visit and reception.

The Epworth League social at Mr and Mrs Allan Hiltabrand last evening drew a good turnout of young people and elders. Simple games were enjoyed and light refreshments served as attendees felt a delightful evening and looked forward to the next league gathering.
