John Hartley of Henry died August 12 after a two week illness. A lifelong resident born January 6 1858 he served as postmaster and county clerk, built the Hartley addition and a Second Street brick building, was active in real estate and civic life, a devoted Catholic and rose enthusiast. Funeral at St Josephs church was conducted by Father Schauer and Father McGrievy with Rev Brennan delivering the eulogy.
