Journey of a Chinese Rail Trail to Tai Ku
A traveler recounts a six week trek across Shansi and Chi Li provinces toward Tai Ku. The party rides two mule litters and carts, passing Huai-Luh, Chihli, and Wei towns, witnessing opium fields, loess mountains, and early railway construction. They arrive at Tai Ku greeted by flags and local Christians after a long arduous trail.
