Hibbin 8. Corwin, editor of the Peru News-Herald, dies Sunday morning from Brights disease and paralysis at 68. Civil War veteran served 1862 65 in Ninth Illinois Cavalry and Battery D First Illinois Artillery. He founded the paper in 1883 and remained editor. longtime postmaster since 1883. Survived by widow, three sons, three daughters. Known for justice and fair play and guided by the Golden Rule.

Margaret, daughter of Mr and Mrs John H Ford, is a Henry high school graduate and long time Hello girl at Henry central. Clark, a former clerk, was promoted to superintendent of Hutchins Downey’s shoe department. They will live with her parents before starting a home. A second marriage in Hutchinson Kansas unites Mabel A Fontron and Paul Rewman of Deadwood South Dakota with a Christian ceremony read by Rev O L Cook. The couple plan a year abroad in Europe after a wedding supper and departure for New York.
Mrs. William Merritt hosts Ladies Aid August 16 with Mrs. Deck and Mrs. Waughop helping. Illinois Disciples of Christ, youthful but growing, plan large Danville convention September 4 to 7 presided by Hon. John R. Golden. Eureka college endowment and evangelistic work cited. Danville four Disciples churches, strong congregations. Presbyterian Church outlines Sabbath services with 9 45 Sunday school, 11 morning worship, 7 evening service, and Thursday prayer meeting. Miss Milred Granbury leads Christian Endeavor. Endeavor, organist Ella Wood. pastor H W Burger invites all attendees.
Mrs. Lottie A. Baker files for divorce from Robert J. Baker in circuit court Tuesday accusing adultery. Co respondent named Mary Moss. They wed at Peoria on January 2 1906. She seeks custody of daughter Vivian, 10, and cites cruelty. Baker now resides in Lacon. J J Barnes plans a new home near Pavilion Park costing five to six thousand dollars.
Frank Edscheidt visited in Hennepin last week. Mrs. Thomas H. Webb and Mrs. George A. urt were guests of friends. Oats yield 50 to 75 percent higher than hoped. A drought raises canned goods prices. Various local visits and events noted, including church evensong, ball game, and journeys to Colorado Springs. Postmaster order directs stamps to the back of envelopes.
