Centennial at the Illinois State Fair Opens Preparations
The State Board of Agriculture prepares for the Illinois centennial state fair and industrial exposition from August 9 to 26 with a two week program. Theodore Roosevelt is invited to give the chief address, Governor Lowden to preside, and invites issued to state officers and dignitaries. Exhibits will contrast education and machinery over 200 years, with a tented city outside the grounds and British and American war weapon displays. The fair opens in full blast August 12 with a larger than usual program including infant maller contests, auto races, canal harness races, and new buildings for exhibits.
