County M W A Convention Elects State Delegate
The county M W A convention met in this city Wednesday afternoon with six of nine camps represented. I Turner of Wenons presided and William Silewers served as clerk. Delegates voted to elect a state convention delegate and adopted resolutions urging repeal of the Chicago head camp rate table and a 25 percent salary reduction for head officers. The elected delegate pledged to support these resolutions and to oppose alternative rate plans.

Young farmer Joseph Elliott killed by lightning near Putnam
Joseph Alphonso Elliott, 21, formerly of Wheatland Township now on A. P. Child’s farm near Putnam, was struck dead while guiding his stock to the barn as heavy rain and a bolt hit a large elm. The coroner ruled the inquest in accordance with the facts. Elliott, born January 17, 1884 in East Lynn, married Ida Stever in 1905 and leaves three children Lewis Joseph and Hazel. His parents from Nebraska attended the obsequies held in McNabb after a residence service. Sympathy pours in for his widow and three children.

Burial of Henry Dutro in Peoria area cemetery
The remains of Henry Dutro were brought from Peoria and buried beside his wife in the Henry cemetery. Born in Morgan County Ohio in 1829, he died March 26, 1814 at his niece Mary Ramey’s home in Peoria where he lived the last eight years. Six comrades served as pallbearers and conducted the grave service with taps. Relatives and friends from Peoria Pekin and nearby attended the interment, with A B Smith Funeral Director.
