Mary Duke of Henry Dies After Long Life of Service
Miss Mary Duke a longtime Henry resident and member of one of the area’s oldest families died Sunday September 26 at age 83 years 2 months and 23 days at sister Mrs Charles Greenlee’s home. Funeral held 2:30 p m Tuesday at St John’s Episcopal Church with Father Franklin officiating. Interment followed in Henry City Cemetery in the Duke family lot. Surviving sisters are Mrs Chas Greenlee and Mrs George McGillick, with two nieces and two nephews.

Mr and Mrs Charles B Dewey rode the Rock Island Rocket from Peoria to Chicago Monday and back Tuesday declaring the train the latest in rail travel with air conditioning and onboard dining. Mr and Mrs Walter B Duke rode the Rocket to Chicago Wednesday. The train was eight minutes late recently at Spar when two residents flagged it by mistake.

Parole Violation Arrest Returns Suspect to Joliet Prison
Scott Swain of McNabb, released from Joliet State prison after a confidence game sentence, was captured as a parole violator Monday by Sheriff Lawrence Ellena of Putnam County on orders from State investigator Edward Duffy of LaSalle. Duffy sent Swain back to Joliet.
