William Kuss Dies After Illness in Henry Illinois
William Kuss a longtime Henry resident and skilled blacksmith and plumber died after a five day illness. Born in Bavaria on November 22 1862 he immigrated to the United States with his parents at age eight and settled in Farmington Iowa before moving to Henry. He operated a wagon works and later ran his own plumbing and wind mill business with his brother Joseph. He was a charter member of the Henry fire department and a member of the Modern Woodmen. Funeral services were held at St Marys church with burial in Calvary cemetery. Relatives from Chicago Peru Danville Detroit and Omaha attended. He is survived by his wife Anna Hilbathage two sons and several siblings.

Riviera Pavilion Destroyed By Fire In Riviera Park
The Riviera Pavilion at Riviera Park burned severely around 7:45 PM. Firefighters from Henry and nearby towns battled the flames with ladders, hoses, and chemicals to save nearby homes as the structure, built years ago, collapsed to ashes. Insurance coverage was limited, but plans are already announced for a new Riviera Pavilion by early summer 1928. Mr and Mrs Miller hosted a Sunday dinner for relatives and guests including Mitchell Miller and his wife.

John McManus died Tuesday at his sister Charley O Briens home in Camp Grove after months of tuberculosis. He was about 51 and spent his life in the Bradford area. Survived by sisters and brother, funeral in St Patrick Catholic Church Camp Grove with burial in the local Catholic cemetery.

On Tuesday two carloads traveled via El Paso and Gilman to Champaign for a tour of experimental plots and university buildings. On Wednesday October 5 a hundred loads of farmers from Marshall Putnam counties will tour Ex Governor Frank Lowdens farm near Oregon Indiana. They will view the Black Hawk monument by Lorado Taft north of Oregon and hear Lowden speak at Sinnissippi farms.
