Rotary hears Longanecker on Chicago riot area patrols
Illinois National Guard veteran Longanecker told the Henry Ro club’s reg meeting about 400 men called to work with preserving law in Chicago. Patrol lasted from 5 PM to 3 AM and focused on a drug dense area as taverns were closed. Minor incidents occurred. police praised the quiet patrols.

Man Dies of Gunshot Wounds in Hennepin Area
George Wayne Reynolds, 34, a Hennepin area farmer, was found dead in his car from a gunshot wound. Coroner suspects suicide. He lived near Hennepin with wife Patricia and two children, and was an iron worker and Mason. Services were held in Granville with American Legion rites.

Last Rites Sunday for W. S. Miller
Funeral services for Walter Scott Miller 84 of Henry were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Green and Child Funeral Home with Rev. George Hunt of Henry Methodist Church officiating. Masonic rites were held and interment followed in Henry cemetery. Miller, born Feb 8 1882 in Pontiac, married Mabel Smith in 1906. she died in 1942. Survived by daughter Dorothy McEvoy and son Robert, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He managed Swan Lake Duck Club for 35 years.

Ivan Clark Dies Sunday In Iowa Vet's Hospital
Ivan Clark 72 a World War I veteran died Sunday in the Veterans Administration hospital Iowa City where he had been a patient four weeks. Services were held Tuesday at Green and Child Funeral Home with burial in Henry cemetery. Pallbearers included Harrison Gregory Bryan Chapman and Ralph Brown. Military rites by Henry Post 323 American Legion. Survived by wife Alta Vogelsang two sons Thomas and Donald a great grandchild and brother Renee of Independence Iowa. He was born August 20 1894 in Henry. He was a member of Henry Grey and once beat the White Sox in an exhibition game.

Jerry W. Koehler has joined the Pennsylvania State University as an instructor of speech in the College of Liberal Arts while pursuing his doctoral degree. He previously served as a graduate assistant and men’s assistant debate coach, and worked as a research assistant and instructor for the United Steel Workers of America. He presented a paper at the Speech Association of America convention in New York City last winter entitled The Image of the College Debater, and plans another paper this winter titled Dating Behavior An experiment in General Semantics. He is the son of Mr and Mrs George Koehler.

Three people were slightly injured when a moving car struck a stalled auto on Route 71 west of Granville at 2 15 p m. William Child 26 of Henry driver and his passenger Kathleen Serrine 21 of Granville were admitted to St Margaret’s Hospital Spring Valley. Child was released Tuesday. The Putnam County Board of Supervisors appointed Rollo Parmenter as zoning enforcement officer for one year starting Oct 1, replacing Raymond Munks.
