Mrs Hartwig 93 Dies After Long Life of Service
Mrs Hartwig a 93 year old resident of Henry died Sunday after a long illness. She was born December 10, 1847 in West Prussia Germany and came to the United States with Theodore Hartwig in 1880 living in Chicago before moving to Henry. Survived by two daughters Helen Harney and Mary Daniels and many grandchildren, the family and church members mourn her passing with funeral services at St Marys Catholic Church and burial at Calvary Cemetery.

Union Formed for Painters and Paperhangers in Marshall County
A new Local Union No 1878 of the American Federation of Labor is formed in Marshall County for painters, decorators and paperhangers with headquarters in Lacon Illinois. Archie Gauwitz leads the local and plans a Friday meeting at the AF of L headquarters in Lacon to elect officers and admit members. The proposed union wage scale is about 76 cents an hour, higher than several Henry area painters currently charging.

A fire of unknown origin gutted the machine shed on the Sam Maupin farm west of Henry destroying farm equipment valued in the thousands including a 1937 Chevrolet truck. Neighbors aided in preventing spread as the shed burned completely. no insurance covered the machinery loss.
