A visiting scribe details a chaotic lunch period at a New High School cafeteria noting line movement from 12:40 to 1:24 p.m. Students and teachers count tickets, carry trays, and clear plates as younger children finish and return soiled dishes.
The Rev. Fr. Harold Brummitt will present Kodachrome slides from a West Coast and Northwest trip at St. John’s Episcopal Church at 7 45 p m on Tuesday September 30. The event features a selection of the best pictures taken in California Rocky Mountain National Park Yosemite and other scenic Western sites.
Henry Girl Scouts begin regular weekly troop meetings Monday September 29 at Henry Grade School. New seventh and eighth grade Troop 212 meets Mondays led by Collier Stone Hauschild. other troops meet Tuesday Thursday and Friday with various leaders. Neighborhood association plans, new Brownie troop, and instruction for new leaders are noted along with troop committee lists and local leaders.

The Federated Republican Woman's Club of Putnam County met at the Legion Hall in Granville with Mrs. Frank Serrine presiding. Senator Frank Johnson of Keewanee spoke on Welfare of America as reports from the state convention and county meetings were shared. The group paused for a social hour and planned a fall luncheon and next meeting in Hennepin.
Mrs Dayne K Farr chair of the Henry Senachwine PTA band committee asks current and former students to return unused band uniforms and music. Uniforms should be returned and loan deposit refunded to high school principal Kenneth Brumm. music to Arthur Blocher or Brumm if contact with Blocher is not possible.
Hen He Dairy Queen owner Bissell Shaver says the restaurant will finish its season on Sunday September 28 and reopen in spring. He thanks patrons for strong summer sales and urges residents to buy bulk quarts and pints before closing.
The 13th annual meeting of members of Hingis Valley Electric Cooperative will be held at the high school auditorium in Princeton on Tuesday September 30. The gathering opens at 1 PM with reports by officers and a section to elect three directors to three year terms.
The Marshall County draft board forwards one man for medical examination and five men for induction this Wednesday at the Induction Station in Chicago. Named: Donald Franklin Durham Ronald Carl Rudd Marvin Dale Pomeranke Jack E. Kear Bobby Gear Waddle. Waddle is a transfer from Oklahoma. A small call for early October arrived and another call likely for late October.
Dick Finfgeld editor of the News Republican is named to the newspaper production committee representing Illinois. The committee includes one member from each state and operates within the National Association’s framework.
County treasurer Floyd Robinson and his wife of Toluca return from a three week trip through western Canada and Alaska. They traveled by special train from St Paul visiting Banff Lake Louise Vancouver Skagway and Juneau with side trips to Whitehorse and Wrangell. A train wreck occurred en route to White Pass and Yukon but no injuries.
Miss Jav Pitts Marshall Putnam home adviser announced Wednesday that the annual Home Bureau meeting scheduled for Wednesday Oct 8 will be held at the new high school and gymnasium instead of Henry grade school gym due to lack of seating at the original venue.
Bennie Roscoe Revenaugh, longtime Bureau and Putnam County resident, died September 21 1952 at Murphy Convalescent Home Princeton after a long illness. He was born January 21 1886 in Stanberry Missouri and buried in Revenaugh family lot at Hennepin. Burial followed services in Dysart with Rev Paul Bauman and Mrs Bauman leading hymns. He leaves a brother Melvin Miller and sister Mrs Hermaont Miller, a niece Mrs Clifford Anderson and two nephews Everet and Edward Miller.
Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Revenaugh and Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Miller and family express sincere thanks for the many kindnesses, expressions of sympathy, and support during our time of bereavement following the illness and passing of their brother.
Democratic candidates urged party members to back the Dixon-Paschen ticket and other contenders at rallies in Toluca and Hennepin. Attorney General Ivan Elliott warned that electing Stratton would renew ties to the Green regime, while Lt. Gov. candidate Paschen touted highway gains and truck taxes.
Joseph Clift 19 son of Mr and Mrs Clift of Henry completes his air corps client air forces basic training at Lackland AFB Texas gateway to the air force. He graduates Henry High class of 1952 and worked at Murphy's Market while finishing school. He enlisted in August entering the aircraft corps.
October 12 will feature a blessing of new Blessed Virgin Mary statues on the rectory lawn and a chicken dinner in the high school cafeteria. Proceeds fund building a convent for St Mary's Sisters, with games and opportunities to tour new school desks and classroom additions. Tickets available from parishioners and local merchants.
Route 29 Cafe on Route 29 owned by Kathryn Thomason and Edith Comiskey is temporarily closed for cleaning and repairs and will reopen soon under new management.

More than 100 D A R members from the Second Division attended the annual fall conference at Henry Methodist church. State officers and division leaders spoke on programs for the year as hosts Mrs Joseph Ash welcomed attendees and luncheon followed.
Residents of MP area and eastern half of the state end Daylight Saving Time this weekend. Clocks go back one hour on Sunday morning at 2 a.m. Central Standard Time begins for seven months ending April 1953. Schools already adjusted September 2 causing some schedule confusion in the city.

Barrett caravan and a Sept 30 dinner rally at Mona's in Toluca with 200 guests, featuring James McNaughton and William Barry. The Marshall Putnam Home Bureau holds its annual meeting in Henry on October 8. Mrs Ernest Wright chairs the program with the executive board and committee. A noon lunch at the Farm Bureau building follows a morning of skits and a business meeting. Laura Welch of Carson Pirie Scott will present decorating ideas.
Former Henry and La Prairie pastor Reverend Walter T Ward died Sunday in a Chillicothe rest home. Services were held at Chillicothe Methodist Church with district superintendent Dr Claude M Temple in charge. Burial followed in Onarga. Survived by wife and three children Carol St Joseph Mich Phillip Peoria and Walter Jr a Princeton Seminary student.
The Marshall Putnam PMA reports eleven carloads of baled hay shipped in two weeks to drought stricken Tennessee Arkansas and Alabama. Six cars left Speer on the C&NW line three from Sparland and two from Henry via the Rock Island totaling about 135 tons with at least 12 tons per car. The state PMA office seeks more hay with quota raised to 10867 tons and invites surplus baled hay offers from area farmers, contact Henry PMA for details.
Advance sale of 200 tickets for a banquet at Mona's in Toluca precedes a Democratic rally Tuesday evening Sept 30. Charles Wallace, Democratic county chairman, announced the event and outstanding speakers have been secured for the program after dinner.
