John E. Parker veteran Henry business man will retire Oct. 1 and live in Henry Florida winters. Born in Peoria in November he started as a printer apprentice at J. S. Hill & Co. and worked for Peoria Star and Peoria Journal Transcript. He joined the Peoria Typographical Union in 1884 and earned a 50 year jewel. Parker ran his own Henry printing business from the 1910s, built a magazine and news agency, and promoted the Henry Greys baseball team. He plans to apply for union pension on retirement and remains a community booster with many friends.
