Flour mill reopened in Granville under Maurer name
After years of idleness the Granville Flour and Feed mill is back in operation as Maurer’s Feed Mill. Everett Maurer, Granville Township poultryman, bought the mill equipment from Granville’s First National Bank and has reinstalling bins and chutes to improve unloading grain. The mill was previously in the old store building on Front Street, later run by Wold Bros after which the bank took over the machinery and left the mill deserted until now.

Auto overturn near Lacon injures three
A car carrying Mr. and Mrs. George Finkenbinder and Miss Mabel Finkenbinder of Lacon overturned on the Lac on Henry road several miles north of Lacon after leaving the Marshall Putnam fair. The driver escaped with minor injuries while the female passengers suffered severe cuts and bruises and were driven home.

Girl Injured in Accident Near Bureau
Geneva Beers, 12, of Peoria, was treated at Henry hospital for internal injuries after a Saturday evening automobile crash north of Bureau. She traveled with her mother when their car collided with another car. the other occupants were uninjured. She was discharged Tuesday afternoon to return home.

Emma McPhern, daughter of John and Rose Schnee McPhern, born February 14 1863 in Waynesboro Pennsylvania. She lived in Ohio and Illinois before marrying John Newton Travis in Traer Iowa on September 11 1884. They resided in Putnam County except for two years in California. Survived by three children Rose M Law Leonard and Ruthora, five grandchildren, and sisters in Ohio. Funeral at M E church McNabb September 18 officiated by Rev A A Rodgers with a long list of relatives and friends in attendance.

Death of John Vanderslice at Lincoln Nebraska
Friends of the Vanderslice family report the death of John Vanderslice age 69 in Lincoln Nebraska. He was born and raised in Hennepin son of Dr Vanderslice Putnam county physician with wide local acquaintance. Funeral services were held in Lincoln last Friday as relatives from Lansing Michigan traveled to attend.

Albert Dorff Dies in Henry Ill at 85
Albert Dorff of Henry Illinois died Monday after a long illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Christian church with Rev D W Madden delivering the sermon. Interment followed in Henry City cemetery. Dorff was born March 16 1847 in Philadelphia and spent 75 years of his life in Marshall county. He married Mary Devore in 1876. they celebrated their golden anniversary in 1926 and her death came in 1932. He had been blind for 20 years and had worked on farms, at a grain elevator, and hauling coal props before moving to Henry in 1900.

Premium 4-H Show Draws Thousands at Marshall Putnam Fair
More than 10 000 people visited the Marshall Putnam fair this year, a bit below last year but still deemed a success with ideal weather and strong exhibits. Ankabar the trotting horse drew large crowds with a track record 2 05. Receipts fell short of 1931 but cost cuts ahead of a smaller income balance the books. Ernest Safford Dies at 64 in Richland Township
Ernest Safford of Richland Township died at 64 from an abscess on the brain. He is survived by his widow and two children, Pearl and Lyle Safford, five brothers and two sisters. Short services were held at his Richland home followed by Christian church services in Washburn. Burial was in Mount Vernon cemetery, Washburn.
