Popular Magnolia Farmer C Schwiderski Dies
C Schwiderski a resident of Marshall County for 56 years died at his son Michael’s home northeast of Magnolia on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Born December 9 1847 in Germany he immigrated in 1871 and lived around Toluca most of his life. He married Rosalea Krenz on February 27 1876 at St. Mary’s church. Surviving: three daughters and three sons Michael Chris Anna Lawrence Rosa Lena, two sisters Augusta Hentz and Mrs Frank Kruger, and 26 grandchildren. Services Monday at church Fr Brennan officiating pallbearers Barney Haugens Theodore Rott John Nader Barney Reismeyer Henry Roth William Hennessey. Interment Catholic Cemetery, Lacon.

Sacred and Patriotic Program at Swaney Oct 2
Sunday October 2 a sacred and patriotic program will be held on the Swaney school campus eight miles southwest of McNabb and three miles northwest of Magnolia under the auspices of Chief Senachwine Klan. The program starts at 1:00 PM with Sacred and Patriotic songs followed by an address by Gail S Carter Grand Dragon of Illinois, a sermon by a well known minister and address by W Lee Smith Grand Dragon of Indiana. Attendees must bring their own lunch as there will be no concessions on the grounds.

Calves Fetch Top Prices As Season Ends at Chicago Sale
The Marshall Putnam Calf Club sold 25 calves at public auction in Chicago, averaging just over 16 dollars. Howard Turnbull of LaPrairie Township earned the top price at 1810, with only one other calf from Henry County higher at 1825. Attendees included Dowell, Fuller, French, Turnbull, Helander, Schumacher and others. prices per pound listed for Baby Beef members range from 14.00 to 18.50 in a detailed turnout.

Former Varna Resident Dies in Estherville Iowa
Anna Josephine Rose Gustafson, born July 7 1871 in Oscarsham Sweden, died September 5 in Estherville Iowa at 67.1.28. She married Charles Gustafson January 27 1895 and had six children. The family lived in Wenona Canada and Emmet county before settling near Estherville in 1912. Funeral was from Presbyterian church September 8 with burial in Oak Hill cemetery.

Wenona Boy Attacked by Bull in Pasture Incident
Ralph Helander of Wenona was charged by a pure bred Guernsey bull in a pasture Tuesday. He was knocked down but quickly dodged, running to his car. The bull rammed the car tearing a fender and smashing headlights as it struck and followed the vehicle.

Henry High School won two baseball games last week. They edged Swaney 8 to 7 after a ten inning battle at the Fair Grounds. Hartley and Clift led Henry with timely hits and fine defense. In the Magnolia game Green pitched a no hitter as Henry shutout Magnolia 9 to 0, striking out fourteen.

He is Alonzo Tremain's son of Lincoln, Nebraska.
