Former Resident’s Death Brings Lillian Warren Home for Burial
Lillian S Warren 72 of Long Beach California died September 6 after a stroke. Born in Lepis Grove Illinois she moved several towns including Henry Peoria and Oswego before settling in Long Beach. Funeral service was held September 8 in Long Beach then conducted in Henry with Rev. F A Rhoades officiating. Interment was at the family lot in the cemetery attended by relatives and neighbors from nearby cities.

Varna Man Charles Merritt 87 Dies at Home
Charles Merritt 87 longtime Varna resident died at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday at his Varna home after a period of ill health. Survived by widow and two children Louise Wright of Wellington Illinois, two brothers Ike and George, and sister Mrs Haeger of Dwight. Funeral services set for 10 a.m. Friday at the Varna residence with burial in Varna Cemetery. Born January 14 1864 he lived most of his life in Varna and farmed for many years.

Infant Electrocuted At Home In Bureau Junction
A nine month old boy, son of Mr and Mrs Earl Oakson, died after touching a live uncovered wire leading to a floor lamp in their Bureau Junction home on Tuesday. Mrs Oakson was alone at the time. the baby reportedly crawled on the floor near the lamp and grasped the wire. The child’s father is a coach at the Bureau Junction School.
