Marshall county supervisors in session at Lacon reduced total expenses by twenty five thousand four hundred fifty dollars. O W Boers of Lacon kept as highway superintendent at two thousand dollars yearly, George Wiley reappointed county farm superintendent. Finance committee report lists next year’s budget items totaling fifty two thousand two hundred seventy five dollars with a tax levy of sixteen thousand dollars and a rate of eight cents per hundred dollars valuation.

Former Resident Dies in Lincoln Nebraska
Henry Mattison received word of his mother Ella Diverbiss death in Lincoln Nebraska with funeral held September 9. She fell in 1929 breaking a hip and never walked again after three years in hospital. Age 83 years five months. Survived by four children. W S and James attended burial. Charles in Toronto and Daisy in Seattle unable to attend. Remembered by Saratoga township residents and locals.

Chance Loses Amateur Middleweight Final After Thumb Injury
Kenneth Chance of Henry loses the Illinois Wisconsin amateur boxing final to Chuck Burroughs of Peoria in Woodruff Field Peoria after sustaining a broken thumb in the opening round. Chance had briefly floored Burroughs and stayed in the match to finish amid 3600 fans, earning the round two trophy as runner up.

Last Rites Saturday For Geo. B. Barker
Funeral services for George Bradley Barker 72 are held Saturday at his Henry home with Rev. D W Madden delivering the sermon. Interment followed in Henry City cemetery. Barker a longtime Henry resident and former Lewistown native left a large family and many friends.

Car And Truck Collide At Main Street Intersection
A Buick driven by Louis Hofer of near Henry collided with a Grampp Co truck driven by Ralph Rogg of Princeton at the Main Street intersection near the L. H. Meithsner residence. Both vehicles were badly damaged. Hofer suffered a bruised hip but no serious injuries.

A crowd of 1500 to 2000 gathered as the river steamer Cape Girardeau docked at Henry for the first stop of its 10 day trip. Tuberculosis Clinic Set for Lacon September 28
The next tuberculosis clinic will be held in Lacon at the county courthouse on Friday September 28 1932. Dr R W Dunham of the Ottawa sanatorium will again serve. At the May clinic 32 persons were examined with 9 showing definite TB signs and 23 with early symptoms. A public health visiting nurse was employed to follow up cases and provide in home care and instruction, financed by the Marshall Putnam Tuberculosis Association through Red Cross Christmas seals.

K. O. P. Holds Burial Rites for Walter Eagleston
Walter Eagleston, a former Henry resident, died Monday in Seymour Indiana at age 65. Funeral services were led by the Seymour Lodge Knights of Pythias on Tuesday with burial at the cemetery here conducted by the Henry Lodge K of P. Eagleston once served as a policeman and night watchman in Henry before moving to Seymour to work in the motion picture show business for several years.
