Henry city council approved accepting a state offer to pave a mile of streets with permanent concrete. The plan, tied to state funding assistance, would also create winter employment for many residents if work starts this fall. Auto Crash South of Town Saturday Night
Three passengers escaped injury when a Chrysler roadster overturned on a curve at Merritt's Slough south of town. Driver Robert Pinkney of Chicago and Clark Knudson with another visitor were returning to Henry after visiting Knudson on the hard road project. The car rolled several times, sustaining heavy damage and was towed to Klein Motor Company's garage for repairs.

Mrs Alice Wabel Dies After Long Illness in Henry Area
Mrs. Alice E. Wabel a lifelong resident of the Henry vicinity died at her home Monday at 3 45 PM after a lengthy illness. Born March 11 1886 near Buckland Ohio she spent most of her life in Marshall County. She married George L Wabel February 22 1888, who died September 80 1904. Surviving are four children Gerald C Mildred Nelson Theodore Rinehart and Bernice King five grandchildren and several relatives. She was active in Royal Neighbor lodge Marshall Rebekah lodge and Presbyterian Ladies Aid.

She taught school married twice to John N Barrett and Samuel Latham Clift and had children Nellie June Bruce J Jessie Logan and Hazel. Survived by two children stepchildren eight grandchildren and several siblings, she was active in the M E church W C T U Red Cross O E S and library board. Her life centered on Christian service and home building with enduring memories for her family.

They voted to charge beer vendors at the Marshall Putnam fair the full county price of 25 dollars with no peddling in the amphitheatre. Deputy sheriffs were allowed 3 dollars per day each for the fair at Henry. John Blazina was reappointed mine inspector for two years at 5 dollars per day with car expenses. Bills included 50 dollars to attorney Brown for defending Glenn Axline in a sheriff’s office dispute and 470 dollars for a county line bridge. A thousand dollars was approved for a bridge in Whitefield township. Printing officials limited advertising to 30 dollars for the proceedings. publishers objected to higher rates. Four blind pension claims were allowed. Fire escapes were ordered for the poor farm. Illinois Emergency Relief representative Frank English outlined fund avenues from state sources. The board adjourned to Wednesday.
