Mrs Horace Morse welcomed about 60 state police Henry and Tiskilwa officers and deputies from five counties to her rural Putnam farm Friday for the Washburn bank robber hunt. She served ice tea coffee and cookies as reporters and TV crews kept watch while lawmen swept the area. After the bandits were captured the weary officers headed to Peoria jail as a return to routine.

Beulah Barr Seeks Marshall County Treasurer Post
Beulah H Barr longtime Marshall County deputy treasurer and former county treasurer announces candidacy for county treasurer in 1974 on the Republican ticket. She has served in the treasurer's office since 1954 and was the first woman elected to the office in 1966 serving until 1970. Barr, a lifelong resident who has lived in Sparland and Lacon, is a member of the Lacon Womans Republican Organization. Current Treasurer Mrs Schulte says she will not seek a second term.
