Owl vanished from the street scene and was replaced by a pair of wooden ducks displayed on the Dental Arts building across from the post office in envy. Dr John agner, Henry-dentist, began mounting replicas on staff, while Steve Petitte created ship models from photographs. Petitte, paralyzed from a coal mining accident, has crafted replicas of Missouri, Illinois, Chicago, Lexington, and an LST. Dr Wagner notes ex navy men praise the accuracy. Dr William D. Wagner, his son, serves as a US Navy dentist and recently attended a funeral in Africa before joining Great Lakes Training Station.

Boy Scout Night Opens PTA Meeting September 17
The first meeting of the PTA for 1952-53 will be held Wednesday evening September 17 in the new auditorium on the second floor of the grade school building. The program led by Bryan Williams features the local Boy Scout charter presentation to the PTA and Henry Rotary club, plus a talk from a Creve Coeur council representative. Community singing will replace special music, refreshments will be dropped, and a business session will discuss continuing those arrangements. Committee chairmen are urged to call meetings and report plans for the year at the Sept. 17 gathering.

Fred A. Ford of Henry district inspector of the state conservation department outlines the 1953 duck and goose season rules with a 10 day longer period than 1951. Opening date Oct 20, 1952, runs to Dec 13 noon, after which hunting begins one half hour before sunrise and ends one hour before sunset. Bag limit four ducks or eight in possession after day one, with one wood duck allowed per bag. Outboard motors may remain attached if boats are tied. shooting from motor boats is illegal. Pack blinds must be within feet of shore, and blinds may be placed in green areas near shore.

New Cafeteria Opens At Henry Senachwine High School
The Henry Senachwine school system launches a new cafeteria serving both grade and high school pupils. In its first two days, 350 students ate lunch, with 61 grade and 99 high school pupils Monday and 70 grade and 120 high school pupils Tuesday. Tickets: 48 for grade pupils and 76 for high school pupils. Principal Clifford W. Foulon and Pringle pal Kenneth Brumm praised the venture.

City Extends Water Main and Adds Property to Henry High School

Cpl John B Jack Steele returns from Korea by way of Japan and Seattle to spend nine months furlough with wife Mary Jo Downey and mother Mrs Rena Steele. He met his wife in the Bureau at noon after arriving Wednesday. Steele served a year in Korea mostly on the front lines and previously spent 18 months as a sergeant in the Air Force after World War II. He expects discharge around December 28.

Highway bids rejected for Route 29 project near Sparland
The Illinois State Highway Division rejected all bids for the 4.56 mile Route 29 pavement project between the Eyz tex Brick plant south of Sparland and North Chillicothe. SMH Construction of Peoria offered about 870 312 59 for the entire stretch, officials said, far above estimates. The department planned to reopen bidding, with SMH and Clark Brothers of Peoria reported as lower than before, as weather and planning delay progress toward spring start.
