Phyllis Jean Buhn of Granville captured the championship with a 98 percent score in the better babies event at the Bureau Co fair. She is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Earl Buhn and previously held top honors as grand champion and class winner. Mary B Fogarty of Putnam took first in class No 4 with 97.5 percent. 179 children entered the tests deemed one of the best, with local families noted.

Weber and Green, morticians from Chuteesire, have bought the Henry undertaking and picture framing business from Mr and Mrs John N Giblin who plan to move to Albuquerque New Mexico around September 15 to run a larger operation. The firm, established in Chillicothe 65 years ago by Peter Weber, will maintain ambulance service in both cities with a grand opening to be announced. Mrs Green and four children will move to Henry with her husband taking charge locally while Weber supervises Chillicothe interests.

Sheriff Captures Beer Truck En Route to Peoria

George Duncan Civil War veteran dies at 81 in Camp Grove
George Duncan aged 81 former Henry resident died Monday night September 3 at his son Bert Duncan’s home in Camp Grove after a long illness. He was born August 5 1847 in Johnston Pa married Mary Elizabeth Holmes in Sparland December 1 1871 and had six children. He served in the 21st Pennsylvania Cavalry and worked as a rural mail carrier. Survived by wife two sons Bert Camp Grove and J C Oglesby two daughters Mabelle O Dell Table Grove Lina Cright Canton Montana seventeen grandchildren seven great grandchildren and one brother W B Duncan Sparland Funeral held Wednesday at Sparland M E Church with Rev Einsel. pallbearers listed. Barn Fire Destroys Albert Russell Farm Structure
A lightning strike last Wednesday afternoon destroyed the Albert Russell farm barn near Lacon, igniting hay in the loft and stunning Mrs and Miss Russell. Two horses were saved, 20 tons of hay, 90 bales of straw, 800 bushels oats, 45 bushels wheat, 20 bushels ground feed, a new wagon, and farming gear were lost. insurance covered the损.
