Texas Man Beats Mills Litter Record at Peoria
A Texas breeder set a new Jersey litter record at Peoria with 12 pigs averaging 3014 pounds at 172 days, aiming toward 3700 pounds by 180 days. J Turner Mills of McNabb previously raised 13 pigs to 8101 pounds at 180 days. Mills’ litter sold for 9.75 per pig, 25 cents above the top price.

Bridge collapse injures three near Bureau on muddy road
A Tulsa Oklahoma and Chicago bound car carrying five tourists plunged into a creek bed when a steel concrete bridge one mile from Bureau collapsed Saturday morning. The two women suffered broken legs and the driver was slightly injured as the vehicle fell about 25 feet into the dry creek bed. Road repairs divert traffic four miles while work on the structure is pushed to finish by week’s end.

Masons Enjoy Picnic and Sports at Pastime Park
Members of the Masonic lodge and their families spent a day at Pastime Park Lacon with games and a four game baseball tournament as the main amusements. Hickey's Barn Near Camp Grove Destroyed by Fire
Fire destroyed the John Hickey farm barn one mile south of Camp Grove this morning. Discovered at six, the blaze consumed 30 tons of alfalfa hay 1700 bushels of oats and most barn implements. Two calves perished. The 36 by 40 foot structure burned to the ground and insurance partially covers the loss.

Lamp Explosion Threatens Family in Rutland Night
Mr and Mrs Henry Heck of Rutland area retired as a kerosene lamp burned in their room. About midnight the lamp exploded sending flames to the ceiling. Mr Heck suffered burns to his hands while hauling the lamp outside and smothering remaining fire with blankets. The room sustained only light damage.
