Julius Hansen supervisor of Granville township Putnam county led a proposal advanced last week in McNabb to widen a county road. The reception in McNabb was favorable and a general county meeting to assess the plan is being considered with further indications awaited.
Mrs. Whiles of Henry won a 1965 Oldsmobile station wagon plus accessories after signing a Pepsi Cola ticket at Murphy's Market. The car and several other prizes were part of Pepsi Cola promotions nationwide, with the grand prize a new home and $7,500 in groceries.
Funeral services were held at Boose funeral home for Merrill G. Clement of Los Angeles and Saratoga LaPrairie area, who died Aug 18 in California. Interment followed at Henry Cemetery with Rev. Charles E. Moore officiating, pallbearers named, and songs by Don Turner. He was born Dec 25 1917 in Marshall County and survived by his wife Joan and relatives.
Mr Melvin Haig and wife of Varna earned a $140000 purse from a Dublin to New York to Peoria to Marshall County Bank sequence. They received $39900 less than the total and face $75000 to $90000 income tax. Attorney Walter Curley Boyle is negotiating with IRS in Chicago. The Haigs aim to fund their children’s education and take a California trip this Christmas with five children aged 2 to 12.

Karen Briner daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Briner Henry and a 1965 Henry Senachwine High School graduate will receive a $50 savings bond tonight at the American Legion Auxiliary meeting in Henry. She placed second in a state contest on the essay titled Americanism in a recent competition.
Maurice Berg former Marshall county sheriff and deputy announces he will seek the Democratic nomination for sheriff in 1966. He says county leaders have approached him about the post.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Mattern Wigand 87 a former Henry resident were held at St Marys church in Henry with burial in Calvary Cemetery Pallbearers included James Bickerman Lawrence Bickerman and others The Weber funeral home Chillicothe handled arrangements She was survived by her son Elmer Wig and two daughters Bernice Baggs and Florence King plus four grandchildren 11 great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter
Henry Grade School welcomed 477 students on Monday with grades from kindergarten to eighth. Teachers include Mrs. George Hunt guiding kindergarten and remedial reading, Mrs. Donald Laible and Edward Fay directing music, Miss Mary Anne Conqueror as speech therapist, and Robert Logan as eighth grade homeroom teacher and athletic coach.
Four inches of rain on Sunday through Tuesday flooded the fairgrounds in Marshall and Putnam counties. The tractor pulling contest and other events were canceled, exhib itors left early, and officials expect the fair to recover next year.
The Marshall Putnam Fair reported paying all premiums and obligations in full after a two day rain cancellation. Officials noted a 44 year record of financial integrity and concessions paid in full despite weather setbacks. The ASC offered lime stone and rock phosphate assistance on a first come basis with eligibility rules and filing deadlines.
Funeral services for Mrs. Evalyn B. Epley Martin will be at Henry Methodist Church at 2 PM Thursday. She died Monday at St. Margaret's Hospital Spring Valley after a stay since August 20. Survived by husband John Martin four children and three grandchildren. Interment in Henry cemetery. Memorials to Henry Methodist Church fund. Friends may call Boose Funeral Home today.
