Banner Blue Club Meets With Mrs. Albert Perdew
The Banner Blue 4-H Club met at Mrs. Albert Perdew’s home on May 24 with 100 percent attendance. Clara Haun reported on clothing care and the secretary applied for standard club recognition. Members practiced darning and mending, were weighed for a health club start on June 1, and planned a June 7 meeting at the leader’s home.

The Henry High Alumni Association banquet and faculty gathering occurred Monday night in the gym. About 161 guests attended with floral decor tables as the centerpiece. Dr. B G Carpenter of Peoria gave the welcome and Rev Paul L Corbin led the invocation. The program featured songs by the female quartette and soloists, with remarks from Julius Hoscheidt president and officer elections announced.

Rev Paul L Corbin delivered the main address for the class of 1928 as Henry High School held Baccalaureate services on Sunday afternoon. Rev P F Roberts opened with invocation and the high school girls quartette provided music before Corbin spoke on The Philosophy of Life. The audience sang America and Rev Andrew Schauer offered the benediction with the orchestra providing further music.

Corn planting in territory in splendid condition
Practically all corn in this territory has been planted and most fields look in splendid condition. Very little insect damage has been reported. A hold-over of white grubs from last year is noted, but two consecutive years of grub damage are not anticipated.
Henry Band Plans Summer Concert Series Beginning June 14
Henry Municipal Band will start a summer concert series with a Friday opening on June 14 Flag Day. Under director Charles Hentrich from Ottawa the group has held regular winter rehearsals and aims to present fine programs for the music loving public.

Livestock Tour Highlights Cattle and Horses Across Marshall Putnam
Fifty men joined a Friday livestock tour representing Marshall and Putnam counties. Seniors Present Their Class Play At Henry High
Henry high school seniors staged their class play Friday in the gym before a large audience. The program began with a one-act comedy Who's the Boss followed by a three-act Welcome Home Jimmy. Swaney Tennis Team Defeats Tonica 2 1 on Tonica Courts
Swaney's tennis squad topped Tonica 2 to 1 on Tonica's courts last Monday. In doubles Fetzer and Woodward of Tonica beat Koi Bite and Pema 5-1 6-4, while Wilson of Swaney defeated Siemers Barton in straight sets. In singles Bumfare of Swaney beat Fetzer in one set by agreement.

Evans Grange a long time community center west of Venona will wind up. The two-story hall is to be sold at public auction on Tuesday June 5. The adjacent ground has been sold to R M Barnes of Lacon who farms nearby. Built in the mid 1880s the hall hosted fairs and gatherings for many years before its decline.

Richard Waughop Dies at 97 in Virginia Roots
Obituary notes Richard Waughop born October 8 1880 Portsmouth Virginia. He moved with parents to Illinois as a child and later settled in Marshall County LaPrairie farmed 80 acres. He married Durant of Washington Illinois April 2 1857 and had four children. He died Thursday June 24 1928 after a long life in church and farming communities.
