Balanced farming tours show cattle feeding methods in Marshall county
About 70 farmers visited farms in Marshall county to study balanced farming. At Hunt Bros a Percheron horse group was shown, then Willis Shearer showcased 67 native Herefords started on full feed mid February with oil meal supplementation. Noah Kelley displayed 74 mixed feeders with a new 38 by 70 barn. J W Green highlighted 88 head on oats, then corn and silage, with limestone trial plots. Discussions covered fair funding, tuberculosis work, and the value of balanced farming with sample profit figures from a Carthage study.

Tragic Death For Baby Robert Francis Etscheidt
Robert Francis Etscheidt son of Mr and Mrs Frank Etscheidt died after an April illness from a hemorrhage of the lungs. He was born April 10 1924 in the city. Funeral services were held at St Josephs Church with Rev M J Brennan officiating. Surviving are his parents sister Elizabeth Ann and grandparents with relatives from Peoria and Chicago among the mourners.

Edwin Henry of Henry High School class of 1921 has won the General Assembly Scholarship for a six year pharmacy program at the University of Illinois. Nominees must be 18, reside in the district, graduate from an Illinois accredited high school, and present 15 acceptable units. He will begin the term starting October 6 at the university after working at the T. J. Segraves drug store.
