John Green laid to rest after Sunday death
John Green, a Spanish American War veteran and local trucker born September 29, 1855 in Arden New York, died Sunday night after years of illness. His funeral at St Josephs was led by Rev M J Brennan with burial at St Patricks cemetery. Henry Post No 323 American Legion assisted. He leaves a wife Anna McManus and several children including Anna Risen, Margaret Hunter, Walter, and William E. of the area.

Putnam County Road Bid Calls For Major Project
The State Highway Department invites bids on 6.57 miles from Granville to McNabb with openings on Wednesday June 1. A 2.89 mile stretch in Woodford Washburn on Route 89 and a 4 mile segment near Metamora are also set for a June 1 letting. Magnolia township works on right of way as Granville to Hennepin remains unsurveyed.

Mrs Henry Sigleer Dies After Prolonged Illness
Mrs. Henry Sigleer a long time city resident died Monday at ten in the morning after a year and a half of illness. Dropsy was given as the cause. Born Elizabeth Ann Collier September 13 1848 in Terre Haute Ind she married John Johns in 1868 and had five children. After two marriages she moved from Indiana to Bureau and then to this city about fifty years ago. She leaves her husband five children a brother and sister and many relatives. Funeral services were held at 2:30 this afternoon at Smith Funeral Chapel with Rev H G Dusenberry officiating. Interment in Henry cemetery. Relatives from Huntington Noblesville Denver Los Angeles Peoria Chillicothe and Arlington attended.

Baccalaureate Exercises For Class Of 1927 Held At Henry Theatre
The class of 1927 heard an inspiring address by Rev. P F Roberts at Sunday afternoon baccalaureate services in the Henry Theatre. Rose Reinbeck led a march, graduates occupied front rows, and the crowd joined in The Battle Hymn of the Republic before Ad Schick sang a vocal solo. Reverend Ivins Chatten gave the invocation and Rev. Andrew Schauer delivered benediction.

Marshall Putnam club plans university tour trip
The boys and girls club members and leaders prepare for an annual university tour. They will spend three days at the state institution hearing lectures and seeing demonstrations. The group, the Marshall Putnam section, plans to depart Henry at 5 30 a m on Wednesday June 8 with costs around 5 to 6 dollars per member.

Government corn disease and breeding tests in three counties
The U S Department of Agriculture will conduct an extensive corn test in Marshall and Putnam counties this year. A total of 520 combinations across 520 rows will be planted at the Griffith farm south of McNabb, Harney farm near Henr, and Moews farm near Granville with two soil types used under James Holbert's direction.

Death of Estella E Brown at 38 in La Prairie
Mrs. Estella E Brown of La Prairie Center died Friday after a several months illness described as liver poisoning. Born to Clarence and Clara Calder, she married Jesse Brown in 1919 and helped run the family farm. She was active in the local Methodist church and served as corresponding secretary of the Women’s Foreign Missionary Society. She leaves husband Jesse, son Ralph, parents, two sisters and a brother. funeral held May 22 at La Prairie Methodist Church with burial in Blue Ridge Cemetery.

E G Ball Indicted For Violating Banking Law
E G Ball president of the Toluca State Bank was indicted by Marshall county grand jury for receiving deposits while the bank was insolvent. Charges cite deposits of 1036.73 by Wyot Wink and 200 by Fred Marshall on November 20 and note the bank failed to open on the 22nd. Some depositors have retained counsel to handle bank failure matters.
