William Ketchum of Lacon long plagued by goitre and heart trouble died at Proctor hospital Peoria at 5 am Tuesday after returning from Mayo Brothers seeking help. He married May Huffman in early years and is survived by his wife three children two brothers Vern and Jeric of Nebraska and his mother Mrs Spencer Ketchum. Funeral from Lacon Methodist Church with Rev L M Thompson officiating. Remains to be brought to Henry for interment.

Death of Henry Lee Poling after two strokes
Henry Lee Poling died at his son Clarence’s home in the city on Tuesday morning after suffering two strokes of paralysis. Born March 12, 1857 in Wheeling West Virginia, he lived in Missouri and Illinois, married Ida Jones in 1878, and had seven children. Surviving are daughters Edith Murel Calderwood and Martha Ann McCartney and sons Virgil Harrison Earl and Clarence Henry. Funeral held at 10:00 a.m. at Smith Chapel with Rev. J W Burner officiating. interment in city cemetery.

The annual Memorial Sunday will be observed by a union service at the Christian church on Sunday morning May 25 at 11 00.
