Navy Youth Robbed and Shot in Virginia Beach
A 19 year old Henryite and U S Navy aviation apprentice Ray Magnuson was shot in the back on Virginia Beach Blvd and is in serious condition at Portsmouth Naval Hospital. Navy youth Joseph J Kelly, 19, from Detroit, was killed by a similar gunshot nearby. Police say the two crimes may involve the same suspect or suspects. three others were wounded.

Memorial Day events are scheduled for Friday May 30 in Henry with a breakfast for Legionnaires at 8 a.m. at the Legion building and a 10 a.m. parade featuring the Henry Senachwine Marching Mallards Mallardettes and Henry Grade School Band. After the parade a service will be held at Henry City Cemetery and new veteran graves flags were ordered. An attempted hitchhiking robbery outside Sparland led to a $50 theft report and a description broadcast to surrounding counties.
