Michael O'Brien Dies After Illness At Putnam Home
Michael O'Brien died at his Putnam County home after a brief illness. Born September 29, 1851 in County Clare Ireland he emigrated to America at 14 settling in Putnam County. He married Sarah Ann Inger in 1878 and leaves 14 children, 9 surviving, plus 12 grandchildren. Funeral at St Joseph's Church Henry conducted by Rev Fr Harrington with many relatives in attendance.

A Hopewell township group of farmers completed four community organizations and will meet monthly. The aim is to discuss local problems and include entertainment and recreation in programs. Memorial Day Observance Plans Announced by Legion and Auxiliaries
At a Saturday meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary and W R C plans were made for Memorial Day observances on May 30. Activities start at 9:00 a.m. with a march from the Legion hall to the Henry bridge and continue at Henry cemetery. The Rev. Atherton will speak, and multiple clergy will lead prayers. Various committees were named for flowers, wreaths, flags, and transportation. Flags to be flown at half mast until noon.

Public Service Line Reaches Sparland West
Construction crews of the Public Service Company finished a major westward transmission line into Sparland after completing work on a northern branch. James Fountain Dies at 79 in Henry
James Fountain 79 lifelong Marshall county resident died May 17 at the local hospital after a three week illness. Funeral at Methodist Episcopal Church Tuesday at 2:30 with Rev. G W Kinsman. interment Henry city cemetery. He was born Farmington Peoria county and lived near Henry most of his life. Married to Sarah Elizabeth Johnson, who died in 1929. Only child Luella Fountain predeceased him.

Rep Fred Bestold reports from Springfield that the state highway department will let a ten mile hard road project between Henry and Magnolia in June. Route 89 C has been surveyed twice and ROW issues settled. latest survey differs slightly but changes are minor and the exact route will be announced by the News-Republican.
