Henrys historic Bickerman windmill factory site sold by heirs on May 15 to William Woodfill proprietor of Eagle Vault Company. Pilot Rebholz survives forced landings at Magnolia wind gusts
John Rebholz of Lacon, a GI flight student at Mt Hawley airport, made a forced landing near Magnolia in gusty west winds. He walked to a farm, then returned to recover the craft, crashed into a fence on takeoff attempt, but survived and completed the day back to Lacon.

Helicopter lands in Hopewell on special air mail flight
A helicopter carrying a thirtieth air mail anniversary special from Chillicothe to Chicago diverted to Hopewell Township landing on Addie Mercian farm lawn. About 2058 Chillicothe residents gathered as pilot Brautgen and Postmaster Ward returned to Chicago after a valve burn caused a motor failure on the return trip. The Meridian farm owner helped the landing and mechanics repaired the motor for a test flight before the return to Galesburg.

Bicycle Riders Struck By Truck On Route 18

Paul Laffey and Earl Derry led a successful fly control demonstration at the Leo Bogner farm near Granville on May 18 with 15 pounds of DDT sprayed across 15 000 board feet in multiple structures. A second session at Adolph Rade farm Varna on May 19 drew a large crowd and a WLPO radio broadcast followed.
