Henry Little League Plans For 1971 Start
Henry and Lacon teams will form a 1971 Little League with Rome adding one team. Plans include a work day and contacting fathers for volunteers. An outfield fence is proposed. A tag day will be run by both teams in uniform under Mrs. Adolph Farley for prizes. President Bob Barrett announced Dick Crawley as director and coach, with Bob Logan assisting.

Miss Elsie Wherry, long time Putnam Grade School teacher, announces retirement at end of this school year. A community reception will honor her at Putnam Town Hall Sunday from two to four, with program at 2:30. Sergeant Edward F. Holsworth leads Chanute Air Force Base Drum and Bugle Corps in a July 4 parade at Henry at 2 p.m. and a 4 p.m. concert. Holsworth, a veteran of Lackland and Chanute units, helped form the corps and served in Vietnam.

Marshall County Circuit Court fined Deborah Pieper 17 Terry Reynolds 18 and Timothy Akers 19 one hundred dollars each plus costs for illegal possession of liquor and Roy O Yarrington 18 was fined for illegal transportation of liquor They were arrested April 2 in Henry by Police Chief Harold Kennedy Also fined fifty dollars and costs for illegal transportation and possession were Michael Watkins 23 of Sparland and Danny Kitts 19 of Lacon They were arrested April 18 in Henry Kennedy noted four additional minor liquor cases coming up All arrests were on Henry streets Kennedy said the crackdown reduces accidents and aims to keep streets safe The fines serve as a warning to anyone caught with illegal liquor on Henry streets.

Memorial Day events set for May 31 include a parade at 10 am with breakfast at 8 am, and a flag distribution at cemeteries on May 29.
