About sixty friends gathered May 13 at the Hollers home to honor Mr. and Mrs. Walter Holler on their twenty fifth wedding anniversary. Euchre and dancing followed a procession of thanks, then a 32 piece silverware set was presented by Glenn Holler and neighbors. Refreshments of sandwiches pickles cake and coffee were served.

Navy Subchasers to Travel River This Week
Two Atlantic Fleet submarine chasers Nos. 64 and 330 will travel the Illinois waterway next week. They are commanded by Lieut. C. R. Lowes Jr. and Lieut. Frank Dunbar. They will join two similar ships at the Great Lakes Naval Training Station and train Northwestern University R O T C midshipmen this summer. G P Scott, publisher of the Henry News Republic an and the Chillicothe Bulletin, last week assumed management of the Lacon Home Journal from the Home News Publishing Company of Chicago. The plant operates under his leadership with staff unchanged. The paper, founded in 1837, is one of Illinois oldest papers and has long been a prize winner in Illinois Press Association contests.

The East Ward residence of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Way suffered severe damage when a Friday morning blaze erupted. Mrs. Way had left the kitchen briefly, the oil stove tank exploded, and flames spread before help arrived. The kitchen was ruined and most rooms were smoke and water damaged.

Charles Sullivan 66 prominent Wenona resident and former Osage township treasurer died at his home near Wenona Friday morning after long illness. Born February 23 1867 in Eagle township he lived in Eagle and Osage townships all his life. Survived by five children Marguerite Condon D G Sullivan Charles L Sullivan Giles Sullivan and William L Sullivan. Funeral Monday at St Marys Catholic church Wenona with requiem high mass. Toluca Murderer Dies at Joliet
Joe Stemas, a murderer, died at Joliet after a surgical operation. His body was brought to Toluca for burial. Stemas killed two officers during a botched arrest as Sheriff Orville Litchfield and Marshal Jack Leonard confronted him at his Toluca home.

Lift All Bans on Medicinal Liquor Ordered by Officials
Secretary of the Treasury Woodin and Attorney General Cummings signed an order last Monday eliminating limits on prescription liquor. The policy, effective in one week, allows physicians to prescribe unlimited quantities if they deem it medically necessary. Fruit Jar Hidden Cash Found by Spring Valley Workmen
Workmen digging in Saint Paul street Spring Valley unearthed a fruit jar containing 2200 in old style currency. The money, in five ten and twenty dollar bills, was found in a basement and turned over to the building owner who later distributed portions to the workers. Authorities note the bills show early series marks and date the hoard was buried at least twenty five years ago.
