The Golden Wedding in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Horrom was celebrated with a modest dinner on Sunday due to Mr. Horroms illness. Survivors included Mrs. Ruth Wright and Bella Horrom with guests Charles and Lottie Collins. their son Hyman of Minnesota could not attend.
Marsah county increases support for the Near East famine relief with a latest $5.00 donation from Mrs. M. C. Doyle treasurer of the Henry Illinois WCTU. Illinois committee shoulders responsibility for 20000 orphans amid Armenian and Syrian hunger and aid from U S citizens.
The K of R and 3 announces an initiatory work in rank for next Monday. The Chancellor Commander hopes for good attendance, especially those taking part in the work, with senators urged to be on hand. After the meeting a lunch will be held. - Geo. H. Daniels.
A Thursday evening party at Mr and Mrs H J Blackburns home welcomed Miss Lorna Blackburn on her birthday. About forty friends gathered to celebrate with lawn games and indoor activities after rain drove them indoors followed by lunch and late games.
The Tiskilwa High School junior class hosted a May banquet at Hotel Henry for the seniors. Green and white colors dominated the decor with daisies and ferns, featuring a menu of creamed chicken timbale, mashed potatoes, corn, rolls, salads, ice cream, cake, mints and coffee. Toasts and musical numbers included Welcome by Wilton Norris, Greetings from the Board of Education, Senior History, Advice to Juniors, Senior Statistics, Senior Prophesy, Athletic Prowess, and piano solo.
The Henry Greys dominated a six town league and seized first place after a close win last Sunday. Next Sunday Bradford visits for a chance to balance a prior April 30 9 to 5 defeat. A large crowd is urged to support the team in the grandstand.
The body of Austin Carrier known as Gipp was found floating at Swan Lake’s head near the Hannepin drainage district after nearly a week in the water. He was last seen May 6 leaving Glen Thompson’s cabin boat. a capsize and strong winds were blamed for the drowning. an inquest returned accidental death. He is survived by parents, a brother Harry and sister Candis with numerous relatives attending the burial in Hennepin and Granville.
The quarterly tea of the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society met at Mrs. Theo Kaifer's home with many members and guests. Ida Ketchum led a program on origin and methods, followed by a Lord's Prayer recitation and sacred song. Elizabeth Weaver played piano, Charlotte Sparling sang, Rose Reinbeck accompanied, D. R. Blackwell led a query, and Elizabeth Reed offered a closing prayer as refreshments were served by Kaiser, Brokaw Hill, and Enid Case.
The first car load of all for the Streets is expected to arrive in a few ava.
The Henry Township Sunday School convention met at the Presbyterian Church last Sunday, May 14, with county president F. B. Wilson praising organization. Officers were elected: President Mrs. Wm Wheeler, Vice President Mrs Charles Vogelsang, Secretary Elise L. Helper, Treasurer Mrs Ira Hupp. Reports showed enrollments from M B E, Presbyterian, and Christian Bible schools, with varied attendance and funds. Rev Arthur McLaughlin challenged boys and girls to work and moral effort, urging stronger homes, schools, and churches to shape the next generation.
Harry Blackburn notes a push from Henry business leaders to host the Marshall Putnam Swine Breeders Association show at Henry. Magnolia Grange plans to run it with their September fair, with a decision by breeders in days. Advocates cite fair grounds and county fair potential, urging community effort to attract large crowds.

The high school selects Mr Sicking er of Washburn as the new manual training teacher to replace Mr Mitten who will depart at year end. Six years in the field and married, he comes to the position after teaching in his hometown. Of four staff offered contracts for next year only Superintendent Littler has accepted. Mrs Carpenter has, while Miss Morris and Miss Schiffbauer have not returned contracts.
Mr and Mrs C J Conway have opened Hy Cliff Inn at the entrance to Lake Senachwine, catering to parties and individuals with dining as the chief attraction. Rooms will be available for vacationists as the Conways return from Chicago after previously running Endercliff Resort.
A car driven by Mrs Elmer Smith and Mrs Mark Petersoik from Henry Wednesday ran off the dike near Big Sandy bridge after steering gear broke. The vehicle sank into mud and was halted before entering the river. occupants escaped with minor bruises and were returned to town by a passing motorist. The car sustained slight damage and was sent to a garage for repairs.
The Delphian society schedules its regular meeting for Tuesday evening May 23 in Mira See in Drama with members urged to attend and participate in planned discussions and activities.
The Theodore Bickerman family held a Sunday gathering at Fred Merdian’s home to honor their parents and celebrate the 25th wedding anniversary of Seneca residents. Guests from Chicago and Seneca joined in a community dinner for thirty descendants, with a surprise “welcome home” for E N Bogner and a house warming at the Bogner home.
The American Legion offers free entertainment at the opera house this evening. Everyone is cordially invited to attend.

The Christian church missionary society met Thursday afternoon with vice president Miss Vaughan presiding in Mrs. Phillips absence. Members read about fourteen homes for orphans and the aged supported by the United Christian Missionary Society, including the St. Louis orphans home and Jacksonville aging homes with the Jacksonville Fla facility noted as newest. The leaders read the Hidden Answers delivered by several members, ending with Psalm 67:1-2.
Henry defeated the Peru Boosters 3 to 2 at Washington Park in Peru to seize a share of first place in the Illinois Valley league. Chrabot pitched for Peru, allowing three walks in a costly inning as Henry scored in the eighth to take the win. Mueller led Peru with three hits, including two doubles, and Frederick added two hits as Haas and Chrabot each fanned seven batters.
Mrs. Bernice Green hosted a Wo man s Club gathering with a piano violin duet by Lawrence, a reading on The Women of the Americas, and talks on Books Worth Reading. New honorary member Lavern Disasway was added, and the annual luncheon was set for Hotel Henry with Bela Evans as press correspondent.
