Henry High Finishes Fourth at District Meet in LaSalle
Henry High placed fourth with 16 points at the district meet in LaSalle last Saturday. Star sprinter Wilfred Wright won the 50 yards in 5.5 seconds and tied the record while earning second in the broad jump at 19 feet 11 inches. Kenneth Roberts finished fourth in the 440 yard dash as a new meet record of 52.6 seconds was set. Henry’s relay team won and set a conference record, earning Wright and the relay squad spots for the final at Champaign on May 18.

Marshall County Sunday School Convention Held in LaRose
The sixty fifth annual Marshall County Sunday School convention met at LaRose Union Sunday School on May 9. L H Koehler of Normal Illinois delivered the evening address. A lunch and banquet raised about 35 dollars to fund Sunday school song books, with the LaRo winning the county loving cup in a contest.

More than twenty high schools and over one hundred central Illinois athletes will compete at Henry High School invitational track meet. The event is set for May 24 at the fairgrounds citywide. Program begins 1:30 p.m. Lloyd Ira of Bloomington will serve as official and starter.

Mrs. James Lipscomb of Putnam died May 9 after months of illness at age 23 years 6 months 28 days. Nettie Rebecca Pyles born Hardman West Virginia October 1 1905 married James C. Lipscomb September 15 1923. Survived by husband two sons Kenneth Dale and Arthur Ellsworth a daughter Wilma Lee father Owen Pyles two brothers Ernest Delmar Arlie Ellsworth two sisters Lovie May and Mrs Alex Gaworski. Funeral at Christian church Putnam Saturday with Rev Enlow DePue officiating. Interment in Putnam cemetery family plot.

Rev P M Cooper Honored at Episcopal Synod
The Rev Pabius M Cooper of Henry was named clerical alternate delegate to the provincial mid west synod and joined committees on legislation and privileges and the diocesan board of missions and served as secretary. Bishop Fawcett received purses from priests and laymen for his twenty fifth anniversary as bishop. Lay delegates of delinquent missions were not seated. The synod voted to meet next year at Trinity Church Rock Island Illinois.

Patrick Harney longtime Henry resident dies after a long illness at age 67 years 11 months and 19 days. Born May 22 1861 he was the son of Michael and Margaret Harney and husband of the late Margaret Dwyer. He leaves three children and four grandchildren. Funeral from the home of son in law George Anderson at Front and Wirt streets with burial in St Patrick's cemetery.
