Varna Farmer Albert Schulz Dies After Long Faithful Life
Albert Friedrich Schulz, born April 26 1869 in West Prussia, died Friday at Varna after an incurable illness. He immigrated as a youth, settled near Peru and other towns, married Ida Lenz in 1897, and raised five children. A devout member of St Paul Church Varna, he is mourned by his wife, four children, two sisters, and many friends. Funeral at St Paul’s Church with burial in Varna Cemetery.

A new roller skating rink owned by George King of Springfield is being installed at the Marshall Putnam Fair Grounds with a May opening. The 58 by 152 foot maple floor claims state size leadership and will host Hammond electric organ accompaniment played by a local musician. Public sessions run afternoons and evenings with 7:30 to 10:00 p.m. hours and private party availability after hours.

Child Welfare Staff Visits Jacksonville Illinois School
Child welfare staff Mary Elizabeth Robinson and Agnew visited the Illinois State school for the blind and deaf in Jacksonville on Monday. They observed lip reading and residual hearing development for deaf children and a braille printshop with music libraries serving nationwide programs. The visit noted an orchestra of blind musicians and a strong, healthy school atmosphere with four divisions.

Menry Metzger of Wenona Dies at 73
Henry Metzger 73 of Wenona was found dead in bed Tuesday at 9 p m by his daughter Mrs Fran Dillon with whom he lived. An extended illness was given as the cause. Born in Germany he came to the United States as a child. Surviving are his children Carl Elmer Vernon Walter Maynard Mrs Alice Mills Mrs Carlos Turner Mildred and Mrs Dillon. Also two brothers William Wenona and Gotlieb Lacon and a sister Mrs Nena Reynolds Chicago. He had retired after years as a miner farmer and bakery operator.
