Mary Elizabeth Brown Shanklin Jesse died at her Varna home on May 4 at 4 20 pm age 84 years four months and 16 days. She was born near Terre Haute Indiana in 1842 and lived a long life with farming and church work including Red Cross during the war. Survived by four children ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren with funeral May 7 at Varna M B church. Interment in Antipetr cemetery.

Henry high school won the triangular track and field meet at the Fairgrounds last Wednesday afternoon with 69 points. Lacon took second with 47. Sparland failed to place due to ineligibility. Baldwin led Henry with high point scoring, notably 113 feet 8.5 inches in discus. Newell won javelin at 156 feet 11 inches.

Arrest Lostant Farmer for Carrying Weapons
Leo Weaver, 20, a Lostant farmer, was arrested Friday morning at La Salle on charges of carrying concealed weapons. He is alleged to have attempted to rob Reinke Motor Sales. Officers chased him for six blocks before arrest. He was found with an automatic pistol and a hat of tools.

Reverend Dunkleberger Brings Faith Work From Indiana
Rev D L Dunkleberger, Christian minister and former evangelist, arrived in Henry to take the pastorate at the Christian church. He comes from Warsaw Indiana where he served as pastor for years after earlier charges at Paris Harrisburg and Arcola. He has led evangelistic work, baptized thousands and overseen church construction and new congregations. Mrs Dunkleberger and two daughters live at the parsonage on Third street with plans for Dorothy age 16 to attend school next fall.

Elmer Edwin Magnuson of Putnam died Monday night from an infection in the head linked to years of injuries from a runaway. He suffered headaches and delirium before death at 8:48 PM. Born April 21, 1894 in Arispie, he lived with brother Arvid on the Will Stickel farm west of Putnam. Funeral services were held at home and the Swedish Mission in Tiskilwa. burial at Mt Bloom Cemetery.
