Samuel Chesney age 67 died Tuesday morning at the Methodist hospital Peoria after an extended illness. Funeral services will be at Henry Methodist church Thursday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Charles Bennett officiating and Masonic services by Tiskilwa lodge. Interment in Henry city cemetery. Survived by wife of Henry, a son William Chesney of Putnam, and three daughters Mrs Walter Young Bloomington Mrs Gerald Shearer Magnolia and Mrs John A Hunter St Marys Pa. New Presbyterian Organ Dedicated at Henry Church
The Henry church held a Sunday evening dedication for its new Wurlitzer concert organ in the sanctuary. Organist Hilmer Johnson and his wife gave a program including Bach, Beethoven, Boccherini, Schumann, and Widor pieces, with reading numbers by Mrs. Johnson. Johnson, a Kewanee native and Knox College conservatory graduate, has toured nationally and managed at Boss Glove in Kewanee. Dr Claude M Temple of the Peoria district preached at Henry and Saratoga Methodist churches on May 7. Attendance was good. A potluck dinner followed. At 1:30 p.m. the fourth quarterly conference and annual church meeting discussed reports from church leaders and praised Rev Bennett's ministry. The Henry church voted a 10 percent salary increase. the conference year ends May 31, 1950. The 1950 annual conference will be in Bloomington at Wesley Methodist Church and Illinois Wesleyan University June 6 to 11.
