Aged Hopewell Farmer Called by Death John Jason
John Jason a pioneer resident of Hopewell township died at home after a brief illness aged 87. Funeral services were at the Methodist church in Lacon with interment in Broaddus cemetery. He was born in New York City January 21 1847 and moved to Illinois as a child later settling on a Hopewell farm. He married Nancy Fitzgerald in 1873 and eight children were born to the union. His wife died in 1924 and a daughter Cornelia died in infancy. He is survived by four sons three daughters a brother and a sister.

Citizens of Morris Illinois presented a 33 acre park to the state to create a Morris unit. Manlius farmer Horrocks fined for assault with deadly weapon
Ben Horrocks, a Manlius township farmer, pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill after a January 1934 shooting of F. W. Schroeder, a Chicago hunter on Horrocks farm. He was fined 500 and costs in Bureau county court at Princeton. Attorney Carey R. Johnson announced a final settlement for personal injuries, with Schroeder's $20,000 damages suit reportedly settled for 2,500.
