Awald Zilm died at his LaRose area home April 25 1928 at age 55 years 24 days after a long illness. He married Mabel Kamp February 24 1904 and they had three children Adah Vernon and Lester. The funeral was held April 27 at the LaRose Presbyterian church with Rev Flug officiating and interment in Lacon cemetery. The family plans to remain on the farm and continue his work as neighbors and relatives attended from many towns.

Fire crews respond to Daniels home blaze
At about 7:30 Sunday morning the fire department was summoned to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Daniels where a blaze appeared to start from a chimney. The roof was damaged but the fire was extinguished and the loss is covered by insurance.

Mrs. Curtiss Tanquary Dies At Camp Grove
Mrs. Curtiss Tanquary a Sparland native died at her brother's home in Camp Grove on April 30 after illness following a Lynn Haven Florida residence. Born September 7 1877 in Ellsworth Kansas she moved to Sparland in childhood and later married Curtiss Tanquary in 1900. Surviving children include Marvin F Clary Margery Lewis and Marie at home plus parents George and Mrs Duncan and siblings Bert Jess Enos O Dell and Claud. Funeral held at Sparland Baptist church conducted by former friends and neighbors.

Veteran of Civil War Dies in Varna At 92
John A. Johnson a World War era veteran and former Varna city marshal died at 7 AM Sunday April 29 after a fall and illness. Born March 6 1837 near Wheeling West Virginia he lived in Cincinnati before moving to Varna in 1900. He served in Co F 149th Indiana Infantry from 1861 through the war and later worked as a farmer and carpenter. He leaves a son and two daughters, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Saltzman home with Rev. Dickerson directing and flag etiquette observed. Interment was in Lacon Cemetery.

Mr Irving E Broaddus and his wife will move from Henry to Bozeman Montana within days. He has secured the position of station clerk at the Montana Experiment Station linked with Montana State College of Agriculture. During five and a half years in Henry he served as secretary of the Marshall Putnam Farm Bureau and later as a teller at First National Bank. He also presided over the high school board for a year. The couple have been active in church social and lodge affairs and are widely trusted by the community.

Former resident killed in California auto accident
Mae Klenzendorf, a former resident and sister of Theodore Disosway, was killed when an electric car struck their vehicle near Santa Monica on a Sunday morning. Her husband Carl Klenzendorf died the next day from injuries. A coroner's inquest was held and the double funeral services were conducted as relatives waited for a northern-bound son and daughter to arrive.

Found by Mrs. Reichenbach among old rubbish in a wood shed, the book contains family dates including Solomon Harlin's birth on December 11, 1809 and death February 6, 4872.
