Brush Fire East Of Henry Stopped By Henry VFD
Henry volunteer fire department was summoned to the property of Joe and Louie Hank east of the Wagner orchards yesterday afternoon to halt a brush fire that had spread into timber. Firefighters used portable Indian pumps to stop the blaze and bring it under control with no buildings damaged and only minor property loss reported.

Funeral Services Held Friday for Lyman Ader
Funeral services were held at Green funeral home at 2 p.m. Friday for Lyman Ader who died Tuesday morning at Perry Memorial hospital in Princeton after a three week illness. Rev. John Howard officiated with services by Mrs. Charles Holmes and Mrs. Charles Pagemiller and Mrs. J. H. Benefiel. Interment was in Henry City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Clarence Tuttle Art Pratt Ed Miles Ray Newton Tom DeWalt and Henry Schlosser. Ader was born April 3 1875 in Germson Valley New Jersey and aged 76 years 21 days at death. He settled near Henry after moving to Minoig and served as a city policeman and horse trainer. He was married to Clara E. Cox on November 20 1900 and had daughters Vera deceased Eda Humphrey of San Diego and Ina Lutes. He leaves grandchildren Lewis Humphrey Joliet and Philip Lyman Lutes Whitefield and great grandchildren. Public notice of thanks accompanies the obituary.

Henry FFA judging teams from Henry chapter competed at Sparland and Washburn last Saturday and the Saturday before. At Sparland eight schools entered with Henry sixth overall. individual placings include Barnes third in poultry and Schmitt third in dairy. At Washburn Henry placed ninth among 19 schools with Reed second in dairy.
