Yondsy evening will be inauguration night at the city hall with Mayor-elect Fred A. Ford and aldermen William Heinrich and Charles Salisbury taking oaths. John Lindgren, new city treasurer, will also be sworn in along with retiring Aldermen Stoner Nilson Schinals and Moline. The retiring council will survive routine business and the new council will be sworn in to set committees and officers. Rumor says Ford may appoint William Rickey as police officer Henry Hank as city water superintendent and Charles P. Green as city attorney.

Two inmates of the Putnam County farm aged 73 and 76 died within a week. Joe Wilson, 73, lived locally with no known relatives and was found dead after chores. heart trouble cited as cause. William Meyer, 76, formerly of Standard, died after a long asthma illness. survived by wife and two daughters, burial in Hollowayville cemetery after services in Granville.

Former Henry man dies in Oklahoma
Dan Marnane of near Breckinridge Oklahoma died April 9 at age 77 years 6 months. He was born to Michael and Ellen Marnane and grew up in Henry as the eldest of four children. He leaves a widow and two children plus a granddaughter and a niece and nephew. He married Frances Kempel on February 10 1891 and had three children one of whom died young. He was buried April 13 beside his infant daughter in Wayne Nebraska cemetery. He was a member of St Josephs Catholic Church and remembered as a kind husband and father. May he rest in peace.

River traffic increases as tugs and barge tows move through bridge
River traffic on the Illinois river has risen in the last two weeks with several tugs and barge tows passing under the bridge. A tow carrying 227 000 board feet of lumber from Missouri went through last Friday evening, and another tow bound for Peoria to pick up 900 tons of whisky was scheduled to depart Tuesday night for New York by water.

Rare pelicans visit waters south of Symmonds station
Florida seven white pelicans recently alighted on Rawson's pond north of Symmonds station. They attracted hundreds as they glided overhead like airplanes. Symmonds noted it has been ten years since such a visit and the birds linger a week or two before heading south.

A group of eight men with guns and dogs killed 571 rats at Herbert Doyle farm on Saturday. They trapped holes and cleared a chicken house with doors closed and straw removed before the hunting party pushed through with the animals. last year the same hunt yielded over 300 rats.
