The Rock Island railroad will spend over 114000 to build a 7600 foot spur from its tracks to the new B F Goodrich Chemical plant site north of Henry. The line will serve Goodrich Rohm & Haas and move materials. work start is near term with 25 to 30 workers for six weeks. State Commander Invited To Banquet During Legion Meeting
The 16th district American Legion convention in Magnolia June 7 8 9 will include a banquet Saturday night in the grade school served by the Eastern Star. Invited are Al Leonard De Kalb past state commander Harold Cummings Chicago state commander and Anthony Badamo Quincy state senior vice commander. Tickets at 2.00 each to be sent to Carl Johnson Magnolia post 254. Street dance and a parade are planned with several color guards and drum and bugle corps from various posts. The parade starts 2 p.m. Sunday June 9 with a U S Navy drill team U S Marine marching unit and other groups. Business meeting Sunday at 10 a.m. with registration 8 30 to 9 30 a.m. Magnolia village board may turn town over to the legion post for the three day event.
