Congressman William Hull slated for first Marshall County appearance this Saturday afternoon at the Henry Theatre. The visit is part of a shortened campaign schedule tied to congress’s current session.
Congressman Hull, co author of the Hull O Connor bill to legalize 275 beer and advocate Sweden style liquor control speaks in Washington. He will outline his views on prohibition and progress of the district deep waterway project and invite attendance to discuss conditions and methods to improve them.
Immense crowds fill churches across Henry for Easter morning services with the largest turnout since Christmas. Weather clears into warmth as spring fashions appear, though early rain warnings caused postponement of new attire.
Directors of the Farmer's State Bank appointed a committee to organize or reorganize a bank in Tiskilwa. The group has held several meetings to open a sound, community owned bank with frequent depositor reports. E. C. Mrs. Howard Eddingfield died at her home near North Platte Nebraska at age 50 after a lingering illness. She was born in Magnolia Iowa and reared there as daughter of Arba Law. Funeral services were held in North Platte. She is survived by sisters Mrs Clarence Ray and Mrs Henry Smalls and brother Will Law of Magnolia.
Members of the Woman's auxiliary and guild of St. John's Episcopal church are invited to the home of Mrs. Lee Wright for a silver tea on Wednesday April 6.

At a March 25 meeting in Decatur, J. S. Bumgarner and L. J. Hager led leaders from 95 Illinois counties to review public policies affecting farmers. Earl C. Smith led talks on tax and farm legislation with Illinois Agricultural Association officials emphasizing voting records and support for pro farmer measures.
Congress approved a three cent first class postage rate effective July 1, 1932, through July 1, 1934. The increase, debated briefly, will add about 135 million dollars annually to federal revenue and accompanies other tax measures to balance the budget and reduce the deficit. The bill moves to the Senate for approval before a presidential signature.
The Men's Federated Bible classes will hold their regular monthly banquet at the Wenona Methodist church on Thursday evening April 7. Rev. Thompson of Bloomington district superintendent will be the chief speaker.
Miss Lilian Kennedy became the bride of Clement Fogarty in a morning ceremony at St Josephs Catholic Church. Rev Father Harrington officiated after Mass. The couple received friends at a wedding breakfast at the bride’s home before planning to live in Henry.
Orders entered in Peoria and Lacon court include appointments of trustees in a relief case, a master referral in an interpleader, a hearing set for April 2 on a will related bill, writs of assistance and partition petitions, a foreclosure and receiver appointment in a life insurance suit, an attachment quash motion, and a denial of a motion to dismiss with leave to answer by April 19. Court adjourned to April 2 at 8:30 a.m.
A list of Marshall county citizens was drawn to serve as a special petit jury for the latter part of the January term of circuit court. They are summoned for April 20. Jurors include Bennington Joseph Maccone Charles Schoof John Dornbush William Wudtke Walter Winkel and others from Hopewell Steuben Saratoga Evans Lacon Bell Plain Whitefield LaPrairie Roberts Henry and adjacent areas.
The Henry Girls travel to Princeton for an exhibition game against a Kewanee girls team at 7 30 this evening.
George Burt Sr marked his 96th birthday on Tuesday spending the day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Brokaw. He received numerous calls and flowers from friends as his daughter gave him an Easter plant and a carnation.
Henry High announces a preliminary literary and musical contest Friday night at the gym. Eleven contestants perform in piano, declamation, vocal, and choral pieces with judges selecting winners to represent the school in county competitions in May at Lacon.
Mr and Mrs Charles Okerberg of Varna were honored Monday evening at Luther hall Varna for their twenty fifth wedding anniversary. The program included a twenty fifth wedding poem a duet by Evelyn Adolphson and Lillian Okerberg a piano duet and a talk by the Rev Nilsson. The couple were married 25 years ago by the Rev Bergman at the Adolphson home on the A R Wright farm. A purse and good wishes from friends accompanied refreshments.
