Jaycees sponsor Easter Egg Hunt for children ages one through ten. The event starts at 10 30 a m Saturday with age groups 1 4 at Central Park west side 5 7 at Central Park east side and 8 10 at Waterworks park. Prizes awarded for each group. Weather may affect the schedule.
Noder will retire as manager of McNabb Grain Company on April 1 after 38 years in the post. President Hansen and company officers thanked Noder at a retirement/ appreciation dinner for his leadership since mid 1999 and wished the firm continued success.
Jones & Laughlin Steel says it will hire about 1000 workers for the first phase of its new $150 million Hennepin mill, mostly from Illinois Valley as training programs take shape. Some locals doubt feasibility but the company stands by its goal and notes some hires will be women while phased expansion follows available openings.
